"Driven By Dreams" Special Thanks to Scott West of Rock&Roll.com.
Driven By Dreams is a ten-song journey that takes the listener from the pinnacles of stardom and success to the clarity and peace of what is most important in life. But don't let the wisdom and introspection of this album fool you, it's also playful and resoundingly fresh. Beeb Birtles was a founding member of Australian super group, Little River Band, which sold over 25 million records and captured 12 top-thirty hits in the seventies, eighties, and nineties. Beeb penned Little River Band favorites such as "Happy Anniversary," "Light Of Day," "Middle Man," and others. Beeb's music has always been smooth, polished, and extremely well-crafted. His latest effort (Driven By Dreams) with Little River Band session master, Bill Cuomo, more than lives up to his former band's legacy. Driven By Dreams is as tangy, fun, and revitalizing as a bowl of lush strawberries. After one listen to "Photogenic," Beeb will have you hooked. This highly infectious chorus will take you back to Steely Dan. But this song is uniquely Beeb, and is as catchy and clever as any tune ever crafted by Little River Band or Steely Dan. Beeb follows the McCartney- Lennon formula of starting the tune with the chorus, and with a chorus this catchy, it works very well. Photogenic is a standout, and should easily become a hit in the mainstream (with modest exposure). Two other songs on this CD that should be well-charted (with proper backing) and especially grab the listener's attention are "Relentless" and "Don't Wanna Die Young." "Relentless" will appeal to anyone who has ever suffered through a dependent relationship or just wanted out of one. Birtles' clever twisting of "Trouble, Trouble, Trouble Think this is love, you're seeing double" will quickly invade your brain and leave you wandering around with this song stuck in your head. Birtles and Ron Hemby team up to pull off this album's best vocal performance on "Don't Wanna Die Young." The textured harmonies are as crisp, dynamic, and glistening as any that you will find on a Little River Band album. The music of Beeb Birtles is as alive and inspiring today, as it was in 1975. If you have ever enjoyed Little River Band, Steely Dan, or just appreciate well-crafted music, pick up this disc. There are three solid hits on "Driven By Dreams" and The first 1,500 orders will receive a hand-signed CD or photo.
